We are pleased to welcome Professor Virgiliu Midrigan of New York University and Dr Denis Gorea, Senior Economist at the Bank for International Settlements.

Professor Midrigan is among the most internationally recognised and widely cited economists of Moldovan origin. His research has made an important contribution to modern macroeconomics, particularly to our understanding of productivity, firm behaviour and the allocation of capital.

Dr Gorea works at the Bank for International Settlements, the institution often described as the bank for central banks and one of the world’s principal centres for monetary and financial cooperation. His research focuses on monetary policy, credit, housing markets and the risks faced by firms and the wider economy.

Together, they will discuss productivity and capital misallocation: why resources do not always reach their most effective uses, how this shapes economic growth and what policymakers can realistically do about it.

This is an opportunity to hear and discuss with two leading moldovan macroeconomists.

After a short introduction, the floor will open for an informal conversation and networking.
