Dear friends, we are plesed to invite you to attend the 4th Edition of the National Carpet Fair - Covorul Dorului.

The „Traditional carpet weaving craftsmanship” in Moldova and Romania was included by UNESCO, in December 2016, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The current edition of the National Carpet Fair aimes at promoting the authentic Romanian carpet and that of the cohabiting ethnic groups in the Republic, knowledge of the basic motifs and symbols of the carpets, as well as increasing familiarity with the winter traditions and customs of the Moldovan people. The „Men’s group Colindat, Christmas-time ritual”, part of the Universal Patrimony since 2013, will be the key moment of the artistic program.

The Fourth Edition of the National Carpet Fair will include three components:

1) Carpet Tradition: Exhibition of the Basarabian carpets from the Rustic Art Center's museum collection, as well as the exhibition and sale of carpets made using old patterns to ensure the continuity of the weaving craftsmanship tradition;
The exhibition of carpets from Parent House Museum's patrimony in Palanca village - the preserver and promoter of the „Covor în bumbi” weaving technique;

2) Continuity Carpet – exhibition of carpets produced by Ungheni Carpets and Floare Carpet SA - the series based on the traditional carpet chrome and styling.

3) Carpet Friend- Exhibition of carpets from public and private collections of the representatives of ethnic groups in the Republic of Moldova: Gagauz, Bulgarians, Ukrainians, Poles.

The event will be completed by the artistic program that includes professional artistic ensembles and amateur artistic groups from different districts of the Republic: Artistic ensembles Fluieras, with soloists Nicolae Glib, Natalita Munteanu, Cornelia Stefanet, Romanita, Haiducii, Ciobanasi de la miori, Oleandra, Radoliubie and Cadinja, Tvardita folk choir and others.

During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in various creative workshops, to make gifts to their loved ones at the Craftsmen's Crafts Fair, but also to enjoy the diversity of traditional cuisine.
