Description

The Anim'est International Animation Film Festival, established in 2006, has become Bucharest's most loved film festival and a recognized event on the international animation scene. During the five previous editions, Anim'est has gathered over 50,000 spectators and presented over 1,800 animation films (both feature and short films, music videos and advertising). Anim'est is also the Romanian film festival with the fastest and most impressive growth.

The presentations, workshops, master-classes and round tables provide the perfect opportunity to get in touch with the latest creations and make contacts. Among the great names who have visited Anim'est, we proudly mention Bill Plympton, John Dilworth, Shane Acker (Academy Award nominees), Mike Reiss (scriptwriter and founder coproducer of The Simpsons), Georges Schwizgebel, Hayo Freitag, Juan Pablo Zaramella, Joan C. Gratz (Acamedy Award winner), Phil Mulloy, Mirai Mizue; or Romanians Ion Truic? (selected in the Official Competition of the Cannes Film Festival), Lumini?a Cazacu, Zeno Bogd?nescu, Isabela Petra?incu and Mihai B?dic?.

Anim'est's mission to reinvigorate and support the Romanian animation film is having an impact on the awards and participations of local animation filmmakers in international film festivals and events.

Starting with the festival's fourth edition (2009), Anim'est has also included a unique event in the Romanian festival circuit: Creepy Animation Night – a nightful of provocative, bizarre and horror animation shorts screenings accompanied by a live musical act.

Starting with the sixth edition of the festival (2011), Anim'est also organizes a special edition in Chi?in?u, from 3 to 6 November.
