Immortal (61 min, 2019) portrays the reality of life in the industrial city of Apatity, northwestern Russia, originally founded as a concentration camp. Currently, life expectancy in this region is 50 years and the environmental situation reaches worrying values.

Against this backdrop, citizens are regarded as mere resources by the state. Children are subjected to state indoctrination programs that make them believe they are treated as patriotic heroes destined for their country. In this system, death is the only way out, but dying for the state grants one the status of an immortal hero.

The film juxtaposes scenes of festive dances and marches with the rhythmic movement of trains carrying gray lumps of ore, which will ultimately become phosphorus fertilizer for new life. These images symbolize the cycle of submission and exploitation perpetuated by the state, in which individuals lose their individuality and become mere cogs in a machine.
