Description
Foragers is a documentary released in 2022 under the direction of artist and filmmaker Jumana Manna [US/IL]. This production has been nominated and awarded at numerous international film festivals for its accurate and close depiction of the conflict many Palestinians endure every day as they search for and gather wild plants to feed their families. Filmed in the areas of Golan Heights, Galilee and Jerusalem, this documentary brings together the testimonies of those people who are forced to clandestinely gather and collect the food that grows in wild places, risking being hunted down by Israeli military forces.

Jumana Manna [US/IL] is a Palestinian visual artist and filmmaker born in the United States, raised in Jerusalem, and currently based in Berlin. Her visual works explore how power relations are articulated, particularly in the context of colonial heritage and its history. She uses sculpture, film and writing to delve into the body, land and materiality within this context of colonial legacy, which manifests itself to this day.
