Description
What kind of music is played on the cimbalom? Only folk music? Only at weddings and parties? Not at all!
In this concert, we invite you to explore this fascinating instrument and discover the classical repertoire that can be performed on it.
Have you ever heard Bach or Couperin played on the cimbalom? Neither have we!
Moldovan cimbalom player Ion Curteanu, based in Budapest, will perform and share insights about the instrument.
The program will also include a piece by young Moldovan composer Alexander Timofeev, now living in the USA.
Ion will be accompanied by Hungarian pianist Marcell Petö.
What could be more beautiful than the metamorphosis of our perception of familiar things?
